The Extinction Level Event Nobody Seems to Want to Talk About - the Gulf Oil Disaster

On Monday morning, 5 July 2010, I was interviewed on the Tamar Yonah Show on Israel National Radio [Download the interview here; interview starts in the second half of the program]. Prior to the interview, I typed up a number of talking points, and gathered together data that I had received and sent out in the prior 30 or 40 hours since the Sabbath went out on the night of 3 July.
In Short
British Petroleum (BP) drilled a well 4.5 miles (25,000 – 35,000 ft.) down under the ocean floor using materials that were not the best, and hit an abiotic oil strata with pressures of 100,000 psi. There is no technology that can handle this and on 20 April, the whole system burst apart, with the fail safes installed ceasing to work properly. BP could not cap the oil spill because of the pressure, and has not been able to since – which is now approximately 86 days ago.
What appears to have emerged over that period of time is that a bubble seems to be developing under the ocean floor, indicated by fissures and cracks through which the abiotic oil escapes, as well as poisonous chemicals like hydrogen sulfide (recommended exposure: 5-10 pp/b – reported levels: 1,000pp/b,) methylene chloride (recommended exposure: 61 pp/b – reported levels: 3,200 pp/b) and benzene (recommended exposure: 0-4 pp/b – reported levels: 5,000 pp/b) The bubble has been located through GPS and the chemicals reported by the US government as being in the air. BP attempted to disperse the petroleum that has leaked with Corexit 9500 which is far more poisonous than petroleum.
If this bubble bursts, then the ocean floor will rise, and then fall, like a woman putting a sheet on a bed, and this fall will cause a tsunami. Best guesses for a time frame seem to be mid August to early September. The tsunami will cause a wave of poisoned water to race across the area at between 400 to 600 mph creating a wave of water washing over the land that will be 20 to 80 feet high – which will flood out Florida entirely – and which will go from 50 to 200 miles inland. That is what a number of these podcasts suggest.
Even if this does not occur, there are no good scenarios here. There is at the minimum, poisons and oil being lifted into the atmosphere by hurricanes and tossed on land, poisoning it for a long time. In addition, the methylene chloride, hydrogen sulfide and benzene, along with the petroleum itself, is now flowing in the Gulf Stream of the Atlantic Ocean, and where it goes, it will, like a Dementor from the Harry Potter novels, kiss the ocean floor with death, creating dead zones all over the Atlantic as the current carries it through the seas. It will kill plankton and all life it touches, and therefore all life dependent on the plankton will also die. That is happening already. At the worst, as already mentioned, is the caldera event developing underneath the ocean floor, causing it to rise and fall like a sheet on a bed, and causing a tsunami that can kill millions of people. This tsunami can result, over time, in the permanent destruction of about a quarter of the United States. In sum, this is an Extinction Level Event, which is a nice way of saying that lots of people, animals and plants die over a short period of time.
The Media Blackout and Vetting Sources
What got my attention focused on this whole situation was the presentation of a fisherman's wife. In her fifteen minute video, she talked of having been invited to sit in on meetings of BP, of various government agencies, etc., etc., and it seemed that the government was trying for some kind of transparency in dealing with what seemed at the time to be a hard to cap oil well. But this woman was thoroughly disillusioned with what she saw in the various government agencies and BP, and she became convinced that they were all working in collusion with each other, with the main goal of hiding their efforts or incompetence from the public. The other thing that caught my attention was her description of her childrens' lung problems, and the way they seemed to get better whenever she drove away from the Louisiana coast where she lives, and how they got sick again as soon as she returned home. It appeared to me that this was not being covered as it should, so I sent this video out as an e-mail to people I thought might be concerned.
The next item that caught my attention was labeled "What US Scientists Are Forbidden to Tell You", which was from a podcast from a Christian preacher. I copied this message, which was coming from a Dr. James P. Wickstrom and was dated 4 June 2010. When I went to his site so I could read his data without all the Christian preaching, I realized that what I was reporting was from no scientist at all, but a neo-Nazi professor of either theology or literature!
For all of this guy being a neo-Nazi and all, what he said seemed to make sense, yet seemed so apocalyptically unreal that I had to think about its legitimacy. Then I remembered something Barry Chamish had told us at a restaurant after he had given a Root & Branch Lecture on the Rabin assassination in 2005. He said he thought that the Shaba"k, Israel's secret police, steered people to him reasoning that someone who had reported on UFO's would have no credibility at all. In other words, people with guilty consciences over things they had done would be able to unload their guilt to a journalist - one that would nobody would believe. I mean, who believes all this nonsense about UFO's, right? What if scientists working for the US government who felt very anxious about what they saw had been steered to this neo-Nazi PHD with a blog site - that nobody would credit except the nut cases who were neo-Nazis themselves? Considering that cops are pretty much alike all over the world, I decided to look at events from that standpoint, rather than dismiss the neo-Nazi prof outright.
It turned out that my instincts were not far off the mark. And Wickstrom followed the same path in seeking confirmatory data for what he posted on 4 June that I did. But unlike me, he has not vetted his sources.
It is clear that there is a media blackout of events in the Gulf. The administration has outlawed any media from coming closer than 65 feet to the zone being worked on, and British Petroleum has bought key-words so as to be able to manipulate where people using search engines can get their data. It has been hard to get late breaking news from the region. The latest story I've been able to get has been from Sorcha Faal, an Irish news source that has links to Russian intelligence. In fact, one could view Sorcha Faal as analogous to Debkafiles. Debkafiles is the Mossad's "back door" for leaks, and Sorcha Faal may well be the "back door" of Russian intelligence for the same purpose. A careful look at these articles from Sorcha Faal gives you a feel for my assertion. Obama Warns World Leaders 'Millions Could Die' From Gulf Oil Disaster, from 27 June; NATO Orders All 'Critical Assets' Moved 100 Miles From Gulf Oil Spill Region, from 4 July; NATO Orders 7,000 Marines to Costa Rica as Quake Fears Grow, from 8 July. Now the important thing to realize from these articles, all of them, is that as one goes through the links, vetting the articles, the links are legit. But in all of them is some allegation that just does not smell right. And all of the articles seem to lobby for the use of a small tactical nuke to close the spill, an act that could effectively shut down access to the oil altogether. When you realize that there are only two really massive untapped sources for abiotic oil - Russia and the Gulf of Mexico - you realize where that puts Russia in terms of controlling the world's oil supplies.
But Sorcha Faal may not be the only source for seeing an Extinction Level Event in the Gulf Oil Disaster.
Helium.com, has an interesting Doomsday article called How the BP Gulf Disaster May Have Triggered a World-Wide Killing Event. The article, from Terrence Aym, explores the theories of bio-chemical engineer, Gregory Ryskin of Northwestern University, who seems to believe that "The oceans periodically produce massive eruptions of explosive methane gas. He has documented the scientific evidence that such an event was directly responsible for the mass extinctions that occurred 55 million years ago." According to the article,
The warning signs of an impending planetary catastrophe—of such great magnitude that the human mind has difficulty grasping it-would be the appearance of large fissures or rifts splitting open the ocean floor, a rise in the elevation of the seabed, and the massive venting of methane and other gases into the surrounding water. The article did not go by without disputation from others. Tom Burnett's comments are worth looking at in that regard.
Such occurrences can lead to the rupture of the methane bubble containment—it can then permit the methane to breach the subterranean depths and undergo an explosive decompression as it catapults into the Gulf waters.
All three warning signs are documented to be occurring in the Gulf.
There are others who have reported on this, and in their reports, the methane bubble plays less of a role. In addition, assertions are made that the Gulf seabed has indeed risen, and that far more poisonous gases than methane (which is swamp gas that stinks like flatus from the intestines) have leached into the Gulf waters.
Let's have a look, shall we? This broadcast is from 11 June, made by Sixty Minutes of Australia, and has a followon video on Youtube, the source for most of these transmissions. In this pair of videos, we see how the greed of British Petroleum helped bring on this accident when it was evidently unsafe to drill. The anger of the residents on the Gulf - and the means BP is using to silence so many of them - employing fishing boats to clean up their mess - is clear from this video. But this episode of Sixty Minutes treats the whole thing as something merely to be cleaned up - massive, tragic, but doable. That is not an accurate picture.
The following are podcasts are over a month old in some cases, but they have not been refuted. They quote sources from within BP. But this particular podcast from 8 June confirms the BP blackout conducted by purchasing key words to deflect searches on oil spills. This podcast quotes Edgar Cayce as a "prophet", and this is suspicious, at least from my point of view. I'd certainly want something more solid than Edgar Cayce. So, let's look elsewhere. But before we do, let's note the stuff that is not based in a shaky "prophecy". Oil platforms are being shut down, and thousands of people are being put out of work. The radio host talks of an atmosphere of fear, with residents in the area scared to talk, drawing out the consequences of hiring fishing boats to clean up the oil spill pointed out in the Australian broadcast of 3 days later.
This podcast (actually 1 of 4) from 14 June, is a lot more explicit in explaining why this is an Extinction Level Event. It is worth listening to in its entirety (all four parts), if you have not already caught this. Here we see the incompetence of BP further explained. This podcast talks of fissures anywhere from 5 to 20 miles away leaking oil. But there is more. A man named Jim Hoagland, who is a science fiction writer who seems to like to create possible conspiracies, explained from his sources at British Petroleum on Coast to Coast AM what was happening. This is also from 14 June. According to this podcast, GPS measured the creation of a bubble around the wellhead. According to Hoagland, the well dug, which was 4½ miles deep, faced pressures that are 100,000 psi. The casing of the well was blown away, and there was a supersonic implosion. Perhaps if there wasn't evidence backing Hoagland up, he could be dismissed as a scare monger. Scare-mongers are all over talk radio, and if not for them, the shows would probably go out of business. But it appears that there is evidence backing up these claims. That's the trouble with all this.
No more "Bubba Shrimp"
Poisoned rains are being confirmed by people claiming to have respiratory diseases near the coasts of Alabama and Mississippi, as well as South Carolina. The following series of five videos, from 28 June, is from the World Socialist Web Site, so expect its slant. But the point is that when coverage from the lame-brained media is so thin, you have to look where stuff is available.
Bu you see little socialism preached in these videos, at least in the first four. You see instead, people suffering from being put out of work, having their businesses destroyed, and you see the real "hope and change" the Obama administration has brought the poor people of southern Louisiana - working sick without proper safety gear and fearing to complain because they need the jobs - jobs that will shorten their lives and kill them. You see corporate greed at its best, a capitalist's dog unleashed with no restraint upon him except orders from his boss - don't pay out more than a quarter on the dollar. It is clear from these videos that the Corexit 9500, mixed with the petroleum, will kill the Gulf and make it a dead zone for decades, if not centuries. But anyone who looks at the relative toxicity of the Corexit against petroleum could have told you that.
But in addition to censoring the news, quietly preparing for forced evacuations at gunpoint, and putting the Gulf Coast under a corporate dictatorship, the Obama administration, long known as the bankers' and oilmen's dancing boy, is whitewashing even the on-site hearings.
Some folks are figuring out how to deal with the coming crisis, and calling upon people to organize with each other to get out before forced evacuations strip them of their dignity as well as their property.
Getting the Bum's Rush?
Folks working to deal with the situation created by this disaster were driving along the Gulf one night when they saw an interesting sight - hundreds of buses and vans that they had never seen before. Do they portend an evacuation, perhaps one at gunpoint? The situation in terms of the declining air and water quality, the likelihood that there will be no work, and that the first big hurricane will leave everything it touches barren might point in that direction. On 1 July, I had compiled the four e-mails I sent out to numerous individuals in an article on my blog-site. From one of my correspondents I received this story of a possible evacuation being planned with a martial law alert. When I looked at the story, I traced it to southern California, and a group that keeps an eye on acts by law-enforcement authorities and others, that might indicate the imposition of martial law. To cut to the chase, the fellow who posted the story, who uses the moniker, "Darkelf" said the following in his post
Due to toxic gases from the fractured oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, the possible off-gassing of the highly-toxic Corexit 9500 (the chemical dispersant used by BP in the oil spill clean-up), acid rain and various as-yet-unknown forms of environmental damage, we believe that the government will have no choice but to relocate millions of people away from the Gulf Coast. Those living in Florida are presently at the highest risk, but the danger also appears likely to spread to all Gulf Coast states east of Louisiana and possibly even to the entire Eastern half of the United States once hurricane season begins.Sounds familiar? Well, to make it all even more convincing, Darkelf provides us with a map of the Gulf of Mexico illustrating how far inland 200 miles really is. If you go from left to right, you see that 200 miles in from the coast stretches from Monterey, Mexico almost to Piedras Negras on the border with the US, stretching almost as far in as Waco, Tyler (TX), Shreveport, Monroe (LA), Jackson (MS), and stretching all the way to Savannah, Georgia on the Atlantic coast. ALL OF FLORIDA IS INCLUDED IN THIS ZONE. The source for this? It's called the SOCAL Martial Law Alerts Meetup Group.
This "meetup group" is kind of what the podcast I referred to a few paragraphs above talked about. Citizens organized to help each other, and work as a group for the group's benefit. I suggest that anybody reading this article who lives near the Gulf read this link in its entirety. I lived on the street once and I remember the bum's rush all too well. It's hard enough when you are single and it is just you yourself you worry about, and it is a McDonald's you are being kicked out of. But when a guy is showing you, your wife and your kids out of your homes permanently with a gun pointed at you, it can get a lot more painful.
As I said at the beginning of this article, there are no good scenarios here. I personally am persuaded that at some time in the near future, this will turn catastrophic in an apocalyptic way. I said so in that long e-mail I referenced above. But even if it doesn't, I think we are seeing an Extinction Level Event.
That is hard to write. But I will not lie to you.
UPDATES:
1. The ban on media approaching the Gulf coast to cover the oil spill has apparently been modified, by the Coast Guard, according to Washington's Blog.
2. BP apparently has capped the well - well, kinda sort of.
3. BP announced that no oil was coming out of the Deepwater Well, and that the cap fit.
6 Comments:
If I were you, I'd take this post down. After all, it is best to remain silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
"Extinction Level Event" indeed.
I'm letting this comment sit to let the world see what fools come here who have no clue as to what has happened over the last three months in the Gulf of Mexico.
You are probably unaware that 45 million gallons of oil naturally seep up from the Gulf of Mexico each year, or that 65-70% of the Gulf is still being fished, or that the 1979 Ixtoc 1 well blowout (a gusher of similar intensity) went on for an entire year before being capped, in only 160 feet of water, putting far more oil into the Gulf than this incident.
Your hysterical screed is not only silly, it is laughably fatuous, and my guess it will be taken down long before the summer has ended.
This is an update to the article - Tish'a b'Av:
I have more updates for you. The first is a YouTube video of a massive oil leak. The second is from Reuters on how BP is now saying that Gulf oil is not from its well. The third is out of the Examiner, and appears to be from Tampa, FL. confirming an oil leak on the Gulf floor.
Against that, this comment from the same article should be noted:
"The sea floor of the Gulf of Mexico has had oil seeping from cracks all over it for millenia longer than anyone has ever been drilling in it. That's why the petro companies want to drill there in the first place. The naturally occurring oil seeps are dead giveaway clues that oil reservoirs are under the sea bed. The drillers are just now finding out that the subterranean pressures in these deep oil reservoirs are a lot more intense than they ever planned for and they got caught by surprise."
Looking at it all in the longer view, the real issues are
1. The immense amount of oil poisoning the Gulf now, and
2. The rise in the Gulf seafloor. In saying this, small amounts of methane are not the issue. Methane is not a poisonous gas. Benzene is. The possibility of the seabed rising and then falling, causing a tsunami, is an important issue.
And now, I'll continue to try fasting for Tishá b'Av.
Most of the oil from this spill is consumed by micro-organisms especially adapted to do so over thousands of years. These organisms, at the bottom of the food chain, are vital to the health of the Gulf.
It is likely that this spill will result in a veritable bloom of life, up to including the fish, mollusks and crustaceans that depend on those micro-organisms for their very existence.
The effects of this "spill" will, in the balance, be more positive than negative over time. The only real losers will be BP shareholders, who will be forced to compensate all comers for years to come, regardless of how efficient or productive they were before the spill.
So, instead of a "Extinction Level Event," this spill will completely disappear from everyone's consciousness, everyone that is, except for the lawyers, litigants and politicians hoping to suck BP shareholders dry.
Ruven:
How can I sign up for your blog? I admire your sincerity in wanting to warn people about a possible tsunami, and of course most people hope and pray that the worst case scenarios as originally feared will not come to pass.
